Bitter Leaf is a green leafy vegetable that is mostly found in the Western part of Africa but can grow typically anywhere. The botanical name is vernonia amygdalina. It is very rich in iron, calcium, phosphorous, fiber and vitamins such as A,B1,B2,B3, C,K. It has high content of antioxidant which helps to remove free radicals from the body cells. It is used for everything from making soaps to cooking. It has a distinctive bitter taste that turns almost sweet when followed with water.
